The change on title tag will cause your website ranking fluctuate for a period of time. Your website will be re-evaluate for the change on new title tag before has its new place. It can be both higher and lower depend on how you changed them.

Hi Thanks for your reply. Actually, currently all posts on my site has "{post title}|domainname.com" - this structure . here I want to use "main keyword of site | {post tile}". What do you think? is it going to be a improvement?

    Regards

There is no problem in changing the title. A post title should always be used as the main title. This helps in fast indexing of post by search engines.

Page title show what is your site is all about. It will affect according to which keyword you are trying to rank. Title is 1st most important tag which guide the search engine.
This is what Google wrote in its official blog recently

This one was better than your second one: "{post title}|domainname.com". If you do it "main keyword of site | {post tile}" then your listings in the search results (and in people's bookmarks) are going to all look the same.

An even better way is {post title} on it's own.

Which ever way you do this, as long as you just change the post title and not the url there shouldn't be any problem other than a slight fluctuation as Sxperm said.

Yes that would be inprovement for sure. But only for that one keyword. You may loose traffic on the post name keywords that is if you use keywords on your post names.

Title tag is the 2nd most important factor after the domain name (as far as I know). Each page (yes every page of your website) of yours should have different tile tag which will reflect your site content. So if you change your title tag surly there will be some fluctuation in site ranking. your close competitors might overtake your page for a certain keyword.

After reading some of the comments I thought of removing the "domainname.com" tag out of the title structure because a lot of the higher ranking sites do tend to leave that bit out. However this does not really have an effect on rankings as there are high ranking sites with that bit in also. It's basically a matter of personal preference.

It will be better if you improve your title tag in putting more keywords related to the content in the page
