I have Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2000, Mac Tiger, Mac Leopard and OSX Snow Leopard on my MacBook alone. Of course I host the Windows stuff on VMWare Fusion. Now, everything on my Mac runs SMOOTHLY, even when I run All Windows OS's and Mac Snow Leopard at the same time, no problem what so ever. I have 3 GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz. I've ran FF on all at the same time, only taking up about 2 GB RAM, and still 1 GB Left to do other stuff. There is something wrong with your PC, hardware issues or some software that is making FF function abnormally.
try to reinstall your firefox!! i had the same problems but when i reinstalled - now is everything fine and very fast!!
Might be a memory problem.. FF is running fine on my rig with win 7, but my mate has the same PC as me except for the brand of memory.. yet his FF is running really really choppy... i built both pc's using all the same hardware except for the memory as the shop only had 1 kit of G-skill, so i took that and my mate went with Kingston value ram lol (crappy ram).. Good luck in trying to work out your problem, just thought i would post in case it helps you.
Hi There I'm using W7 with FF and NO probs Have you scanned for viruses / malware - FREE Guides on my sig Latest version of FF? ALL W7 Updates installed Regards
???? There are several people in the thread who have said they have the similiar issues. I do too although its not slow enough for me to give up Firefox. I mean its a little slower but not that much on Win 7. Great new OS by the way. Really flies with everything else.
Several? Was it two, or three? Were they complaining of the exact same problem? Are you sure it's the exact same? You'll always find someone who claims they are having problems with any software no matter how good it is. And in most cases it's the user, not the software, as I'm sure it is in this case.
My win7 running firefox 3.5.5 with 5 tabs open at the moment is using 165mb ram. I have seen it go up to around 325mb though. I have alexa toolbar, google toolbar, firebug, search status, linkdiagnosis, and nodofollow addons all running. Firefox ram usage goes up when I visit sites that have video players on the sides like some news sites. Also some sites that have flash type of ads on them. Sometimes it recovers some of the ram, other times it does not. If it bugs me enough, I close firefox completely out. Wait a second or two, then start up firefox again and it's back in the 150-185mb range. I have only done this once on win7, but did it a lot with win xp.
Have you been installing and uninstalling software? FF is usually faster than iE, so I suggest uninstalling Firefox, running CCleaner or something like that, run a registry cleaner and then again install Firefox. This time it shoul dbe as fast as itis in Vista and XP.
No problems with FF for me either.. Add-ons slowed it down a little bit, but its still seems quicker than IE... its nowhere near as quick as chrome though, but I guess when add-ons are available for chrome, things may change. Cheers James
