I have tried a bunch of friends, a few others forums... no one seemed to know so I thought maybe someone from DP would be able to figure it out. I have a EE Series Savings bond which are sold half of face value. I have a $200 bond, so I paid $100. I got the bond in April of 1989 and it's currently worth $263.04. (so the interest made so far has been $163.04) Now I'm trying to figure out how much it will be worth when it fully matures in April of 2019. It has a rate of 4.00% and yield rate of 5.30%. Any takers? Or maybe it just isn't possible to figure out yet.
I found this site that will do the calculation for you. You can give the date of when you would like the value... but you also need to know the Serial Number and Issue Date. EE Bond Calculator Hope that helps. Lhlalyam
Tried it, it will only tell me the current value. It won't go past October of 2007 but it does mention that the final maturing date is April of 2019. I'm afraid that doesn't help much, either. Thanks, though!
ahhh..... sorry then... thought that would work... I'll look into the calculations you had mentioned... thats 4% annual and 5.30% yield rate eh? Lhlalyam
I assume it would be annual. Not really sure, sorry. Thank you for your help thus far though, my hope is that you'll be able to figure it out.
Your EE bond should compound semi-annually I believe. If that is the case, it will be worth roughly $406 in 11 years when your 30 years are up. Now, I say roughly because who knows what the interest rates will be like in the future... that is why the treasury doesn't offer future predictions on their calculator because the interest rate can change every 6 months. I used this calculator HERE, which is just a compound interest calc. that can handle semi-annual returns. Try it yourself... Your principal is $263 (the amount you have right now) 4% is the interest rate 4015 days (roughly 11 years from now) select "compound semi annual basis"
