Personally I choose keywords relating to the content on your website, then run these keywords through the Google keyword tool. Take the Keywords that receive regular high numbers of traffic and run a phrase match search on them in Google, make a note of how many websites appear for that keyword (Top Right). Then apply the KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) formula... Traffic x Traffic / Competing Websites then apply common sense but generally "Top Score Wins" Then take your chosen keyword and see what domains are available that include it.
