Educate me: Social Bookmarking for Blogs

I'm new too blogs! Really new. I have read them but have never had my own. So I'm really not sure what this social bookmarking stuff is all about? I have been to digg before but thats about it. Somebody educate me please so I don't have this dumb look on my face all the time. How does it help my blog?

Social bookmarking lets users share favorite sites. There are many out there, and they have several benefits, but the main one is for quick backlinking.
See, Google and other search engines calculqate your page strength based mostly on links. So the best way to get better search engine treatment is to have many links from well-ranked pages.
These social bookmarking sites all have PR from 6 to 9, so they are a great way to start.
They can also bring direct traffic, but this can be more difficult.

mybloglog is a good place to get your blog noticed.

 

Get your blog listed in Technorati as well.

 

I like tecnorati alot also its a search engine for blogs.. Also its giving me traffic =)
