Since search engines give a lot of weight to links for .edu sites I'm wondering if the same is now true for all of the .k12.(fill in your state here).us sites. I seem to be finding more schools with the .k12.... url versus the .edu url these days. Does anyone know if they hold as much weight?
Search engines only give weight to .edu because they have a lot of links to them generally (same as any other suffix). If you are getting a link on the main PAGE of the site, cool... if you are getting a link on some buried/deep page, it's pointless (same for .k12, .com and any other suffix). The best links to get probably are all .com links... but I suspect it will be even harder to get a link from the main homepage of yahoo.com, facebook.com or google.com than it would be to get a link on the homepage of an .edu
