.edu sites, good for SEO, is it true?

.edu is just a myth..

 

absolutely because they are comparatively limited in numbers and second Google assumes that Universities will not create link to a site unless it has something creditable to say.

 

As people have said above, there is nothing algorithmic in Google that prefers .edu links to others. Its just a tendency for these sites/links to be more trusted. But having said that I would echo what sadekjake says above - an edu link from an unmoderated blog hosted on a .edu site is far less powerful than one on the main university/college site which has been editorially added.

 

Niche is more important than either .edu links or .gov links..
according to Google.

Yes, they are authoritive and weighty links in google's eyes .

 

.edu and also .gov sites usually have a good reputation. Also in the search engines. They won't link to sites that can't be trusted or have bad content. That's also what search engines think.

 

base on my experiments, yes. 10 edu links and may homepage is at page 1 on google

 

.edu and .gov links are more effective and it is proven thing.

 

anyone who thinks .edu links dont carry additional ranking should find the nearest mental health facility and get a full evaluation.
