.EDU links help

    Hi

I read that .edu links are good for seo and link building. I have got the chance to get a .edu.uy domain (.uy is the cctld for Uruguay), now, my question is: Would a .edu.uy link be good for seo, link building and search engines?

    Thanks for your answers.

No, it is not helpful unless it has strong content and large number of back links.

.edu domains are no more authoritivre than a .com, .net or .info domain.

No big deal at all - set out trying to achieve what you really want with a domain name that may possibly match the keywords you are wishing to promote.

As I understand it, .edu's have value if they are authority sites. That doesn't mean a .edu in itself is worth anything at all.

University sites for instance, tend to have huge quantities of inbounds from other authority sites. A brand new .edu won't be seen as an authority site by default.

While Google itself doesn't give bonus authority to .edu domains there is a psychological factor attached to them. It's much easier to get links from authority sites if you have a .edu domain because people tend to view the sites as being trustworthy sources.

TLD's have no effect on how a site ranks (besides occasionally for country specific searches) and a link from one TLD is no better than any other TLD.

No, this domain is not called as as .edu domain. it is a regional uy domain. and sounds like it is a commercial domain.
