Hello again! I m always reading about these great .edu and .gov sites. besides i ve noticed that many of them rank high for many competitive keywords. Why are they so strong? how can we get an .edu backlink? plz give us information...
These sites rank high because of thier content. Sites naturally link to them. Usually well respected sites also. To get a .edu backlink that means something your site must be worth linking to from a .edu site. Forum spamming, comment spamming, ect on .edu sites is pointless and thats how most people do it.
It probably also has a lot to do with .edu and .gov domain names being hard to acquire (eg. .edu domain's are limited to schools and whatnot).
Sometimes a student/professor of the university which have a blog or something under the university domain ( .edu ) sell links on there blogs . Yeps ! there blogs do get nice PR and you can keep an eye on DP link sales section aswell as sometimes people sell .edu links !!
Mere backlinks are not the only criteria for Google awarding PR to .edu and .gov sites. --I was startled today to discover today that --a .gov site with only 3 backlinks --( PR2-1, PR1-1, PR0-1) got PR5 So --Google awards good PR these sites--regardless of their backlinks -as they are regarded trusted sites. But I don't think --backlinks from them have special value at all.
Hey guys, Don´t know yet how to get these .edu gems? Just check my sig. and go to the site to see reviews from DP members... Hope this helps .
but there is a lot of benefits you can get if you have a high PR. Like Text link ads on your site. it will bring money for you...
Seriours edu and gov websites will not link to you for any price. Otherwise let me know what US agencies or Universities are selling links
You can get .edu links back to your website in much the same way you'd get .com and other tld's - by creating good quality content on your site and simply asking the person responsible for the applicable .edu page for a link. One key thing to remember when dealing with .edu folk is that webmastering is normally a minor part of their main role. You're probably going to be dealing with teachers, professors, librarians, admin staff etc., so tailor your request to them accordingly. I personally find that getting .edu backlinks is much easier than .com's and .net's simply because I'm not dealing with webmasters. Another thing to keep in mind is that most .edu's are big, sprawling entities with endless avenues of pages, sections and topics - most with good PR. Spending a bit of time crawling around such a site will often throw up a few pages that are a good fit to my sites, and most often than not those pages will be maintained by completely different people or departments. Therefore more chances of getting the link. Phlegm...
