I want to know about EDU ( Education ) and GOV links. Is EDU and GOV links so beneficial for our sites.
yes both of they have more value.coz of the reason they are authentic sites.Very Logical & correct source of information are being provided by them so they are consider good as back links.
.gov and .gov links are more valuable. You can't get .gov and .edu links easily. Anyway If your links are coming from various domains. it is good.
Only SOME .gov and .edu links provide additional SEO benefits over links from domains with regular TLDs. A LOT of .edu and .gov links are no better than their .com and .net type counterparts. The .edu and .gov sites tend to have higher page ranks because they get linked to alot, but your chance of getting a link on a .edu or .gov site's home page is VERY slim... probably non-existent. A certain set of them may have a lot of domain trust because they are really old (have been around since the begining of the internet pretty much), but there are also certain .com domains that are likely equally as trusted. Just because it's .edu or .gov does not mean that it is somehow a better link. A .edu that was established 5 years ago is not going to carry the kind of domain trust that an mit.edu or a harvard.edu might have. In fact, I'd bet there's only a tiny percent of .edu and .gov domains that have enough domain trust to even make noticable difference in rankings above an beyond what a link from an equivalent (same relevancy, same PR) .com page might provide.
No more authority than links from other comparable sites though. That's the point he was making - there's nothing "special" about them.
Not all .gov or .edu backlinks will help you in SEO. There are some sites that can hurt your site as well. Unmoderated .edu or .gov blogs with heavy spam links in comment section is a bad example (bad neighbourhood) to get a backlink from. Example of bad neighbourhood .edu blog pages with high PR 5,4,3 is here high pr .edu blog with full of spam links
.EDU and .GOV links are usually prizes in the SEO world because they pass on very good link juice. when trying to get links from government and .edu sites always read their policies before even asking for a link. Government sites are usually especially strict with their policies.
They sure do help, but I think it's much over rated. They definitely help in terms of getting credibility in your link profile but I's mucg rather get high PR links than get ".gov" or ".edu" links. There is still no concrete evidence that these links have that much value. It's mostly speculation and based on some people's results.
