Editing Wordpress

I'm trying to get my wordpress blog to look more like a regular website. How will I go by removing the posted by and comments section.

You just need to edit your theme files.

Typically, single.php and page.php for comments, but you should check all of your theme files in case; if you have a unix shell, you can just use "grep" to find any occurences of the functions.

It depends on your theme, but typically, you will want to remove (or comment out with a #) any reference to comments, such as;

<?php comments_template(); ?>

The same for the author links / posted by.

 

All the changes, you are talking about, are very easy if you know PHP & WordPress. I would suggest you to go for a professional than messing up your blog.

 

You could use something like Thesis which will let you make these kind of changes to your Wordpress site.

 

I use one of the Premium themes available for free. The only thing that matters me is the Footer Credit links. If you want it to look like a website, there are thousands of themes available there.

 

Genesis is the best option if you want your site looks like a static website.
