Editing the homepage template?

I'm trying to edit the homepage and add a linked image to the php template. I've been able to add it to singlepost.php so it shows up on all of my posts. But I can't seem to do it on the homepage.

The code is correct, it's the same code as singlepost.php, and I've added it to the index.php file, but the images don't display. Is this the right file?

    Thanks

Try copying and saving the index.php as home.php.

I tried uploading the home.php file, but the index.php overides it.

And I also tried renaming the index.php to home.php, but it displays a directory of all off the files rather than home.php

    Thanks

why don't you just copy it on your header or one of the sidebars so it appears on each page ???

check your settings if the homepage has been set to a single page or pointed to a different archive page, if so you might need to edit your archive.php
