Go ahead and learn some Flash. It takes just a bit of time, and afterwards you can change any future Flashes as well. I learned a lot from this guy: http://www.lukamaras.com/tutorials/banners/banners-tutorials.html check it out.
^ there's no difference between a new Flash file and an old one. If you understand how the layers and frames work, you'll be able to isolate the layer with the logo/text. When you know how to work the text, you can delete that layer and type your new text in. The point of the tutorials isn't necessarily to make banner ads-- it's getting you familiar with the tools and how Flash works. You learn it by doing the exercises. I'm 90% sure that your particular file has the text on its own layer-- at least, that's what most people do and it's the smartest way to make a Flash file (esp for a template, where the maker should assume the buyer wants to change the text). You should be able to lock all the other layers, and either delete the one with the text or just delete the text object (likely the text was turned into an "object"). Then with the Text tool you choose your font and type in your new text. Or, if you have your current logo as another file (let's say a gif or something), you can import that into Flash using... "Import". Flash does indeed have to change that file into a vector-- use Trace, Bitmap to let the programme try to trace a vectored version of it. If it looks good enough, you can stuff that in the text layer. If the guy who made this file set everything in one layer, then he's a fool who assumes you won't use the Flash file at all (or he assumes you'll do something else I haven't thought of with it).
