Suggestion edit time limitation makes no sense but harm (with striking example)

Why cant i edit my posts?
(limited to some hours and premium users and i didnt find answer in the stickys about rules in this section of the forum)

There is no reasonable point of benefit but its rather only patronizing, isnt it?
to prevent 'account theft spam' its enough to disallow adding links to very old posts by users who were inactive before since a long time.

But in the following example its causeing potential harm to others:
    forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2381508#post17246939
i added an ad exchange to a list, since an answering post suggested it, but it was only meant to stay there
for the time beeing of a few hours until i had to find out myself its a waste of money/scam but now i cant edit/remove it anymore
    .

As a matter of course i feel responsible for the content i publish to be qualitative and free of errors,
so i was tempted to buy a premium account, like its offered when i click on "bumb/edit" if it wasnt paradox for any forum to ask for money to only make my (/it's) posts better.

As of all said before i cant think of edit limitations in general any differnt than the following:

A forum should not limit editing and not cut the authors rights to fully control what they want to publish or not.

Members, both regular and premium, have an eight hour window during which they can edit a post. This seems ample time to me.

The only difference between regular and premium members is frequence of bump/edit option.

i assumed if its called "bump/edit" it allowes to bump or edit the posting even 8 hours later?

8 hours might be ample in some cases but in others not at all.

    So the questions remains:
Why patronize people unnecessary when it would be a sustainable benefit to the content quality in some cases to not limit it at all?

    Never assume, always research.

The bump/edit option is available for a regular member once a month. Option is available for premium member once a week/

Still the actual question/suggestion of this thread remains unanswered:

Would unlimited editing for every user be of any disadvantage?

And if not:Why is the limitation in charge at all then, when it uncessary partonizes the authors right to control their own writing?
And when it can lead to lower quality of content like in my example thread in which i cant finish the list in the first posting which otherwise would have been a constantly edited result/summary of the whole thread.

(@Smyrl) my assumption wasnt wrong tho just leaving uncertain how many times more often premium users are allowed to bump/edit but everything about premium users wasnt even much relevant to the suggestion which this thread is meant to be all about. It was just a sidenote that was not worth to remember every detail or do further research.
But again, of course you are right that the options to edit old postings arnt unlimited to premium members too (only a little better) and i wasnt trying to claim differntly or depicting premimum membership too negative!)

If you could somehow control it so edits were only corrections, then yes... It would be better. But when you factor in that people are selling things, someone could agree to buy something, and then after the fact the poster changes what they were selling or the price (as an example).
