I think members should be allowed to edit their own posts. I am not spcly talking about "Buy, Sell or Trade" forum. Currently the deadline for editing a post is 24 hours but its not sufficient. what if I want to update the offere after 24 hour? Please shawn, give it a though to allow "edit own posts" in Buy, Sell or Trade forum. Regards Abhik
Members are allowed to edit their own posts wherever you want, but in the Buy, Sell Trade forum there is a limited time, proabably setup to avoid scams. What if you post "I sell XXX for $1.00", someone replies "SOLD" and you decide to modify the asking price to $10,000? It's a way to protect both, DP and final buyers.
isn't it 8 hours instead of 24? and if you allow people to modify thread...BST will become scammer's heaven
Let me know what you can edit http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1589317#post1589317 Right, you can't.
yes, i tryed to edit my old post now but no option. As admin said we can edit only before 8 hours and that is good if u need major changes make 1 more thread.you have to be clear what to post before u post any thing.
hm.. thts true. btw, I got a infraction when I posted a thread with slight modification in it and i got a Infraction for posting duplicate thread. can you guys explain that?
It is clearly mentioned in the FAQ that duplicate threads can attract infraction. If you want to give the same service after some few days or so again, and want to start a new thread, maybe the thread should be indeed new in all respect...
Yeah sure.. Here is the thread for what I got infraction. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1536198 and I got infraction in the second post, not the first. and here is the first thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=152948 Lemme know what is the wrong I have done?
now where did you find all the bumping? There was only one bumping and tht was for some sound reason, which was clearly clarified there..
If you need a slight modification in your thread, hit the report bad post icon (triangle outlined in red) and request a mod make the edit for you. After looking at your infractions and the posts receiving them it appears no radio button was selected in that second post referenced. I feel that that infraction was for bumping your thread. Did you receive any notification via PM regarding nature of the infraction? One neat feature from my perspective is having the ability to send a PM to person receiving an infraction stating what infraction is for and to try to help see member does not run into same problem again. I highly recommend members set their preferences so they can receive private messages from mods.
ok got that cleared now.. i was wondering how the edit button goes invi by its own.. 8 hrs... and I dint know we get infactions for bumping old threads... whats wrong with tht?
first of all i recieved infraction for duplicate post, not bumping up the thread... (its clearly mentioned in the reasoned field). and i did not get any notification PM for recieving infraction. and I got another infraction for starting a thread in wrong category. here is that link.. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1426590#post1426590 i started this in Google section as its related to google only and i got another infraction for this.. now this thread is moved in SEO section with an infraction.
I also don't recieve any notification PM when I got my first (hopefully the last) infraction. The idea of a PM is superb. But then if you have got the reason mentioned in the Comment Area, you anyway don't have to worry about a PM again though... And yes, Duplicate Thread, Threads in Wrong Category...these all attract infractions and be always aware of that.. Anyway, best regards.
Infraction notifications go to email (unless you specifically disable receiving admin emails), then you get none.
no shawn, "Recieve e-mail from administrators" is enabled in my profile and i received no e-mail for infraction notification. the mails i got is for PM's.
