Ecommerce platform suggestions for a site with over a million items

i am looking for suggestions for an ecommerce platform that will be able to handle a single web store with over a million products listed & still perform reasonably well (ie fast page loads, easy bulk imports etc etc).

while i prefer something in php/mysql and open source -- i am open to any and all suggestions. Im really looking for some ideas from store owners / managers that are running (or have run in the past) a web store with over 1 million items.

Try out Mighty Commerce.
Though it is extension for Joomla it really worth to give it a try.

 

Any php/mysql solution will fail it it is not caches files as static html to handle it with nginx/lighthttpd directly.

If you have a million items, you sites will be comparable to amazon. Probably you should get a inhouse development team for the shopping cart

oscommerce, joomla all those would be able to handle this.

you gonna need a dedicated server to handle that kind of data processing.
