I am building a new site on the Joomla 1.6 platform, and I need to have an online store as part of the site. So what options are there for a Joomla 1.6 based ecommerce component. I wnat to use a solution made for, and integrates with, Joomla 1.6, not a bridge to a cart. Any recommendations? And why.

I would definetely be interested in that option, but I was unaware that virtuemart was ready to go on Joomla 1.6. If they are, would you please provide a link?

My understanding was that they are not even really getting into developing a joomla 1.6 version yet, and still just refining the joomla 1.5 version.

I want a solution that the developers are actively developing specifically for joomla 1.6. I want to know that there will be development and support for that version and that improvements will be made and implemented as needed. I understand that joomla 1.6 is essentially new, but it is here, and it is going to be the way to go, and I want a ecommerce solution that recognizes that and wants to be a leader in that market.

    Thanks

Why are you actively seeking something for Joomla 1.6? It is not ready, and there is much that can be achieved with a joomla website and virtuemart. Many people dont like VM but it comes down to knowledge and learning how it does things. VM rocks.

The first sentence in my post that you replied to stated that I would be interested in using VM if it was available for Joomla 1.6. I have nothing against it and would want to use it, except it is not Joomla 1.6 ready, nor does it seem like it will be anytime soon. If you're not keeping up with the new stuff in this game, you're not going to be a leader. Anyway, Joomla 1.6 is the way to go with all of its improvements. Yes it is new, but it is what I'm using for my foundation, and I just need a commerce component to go along with it.

Yeah sure I understand and agree, there is is a lot of good news with 1.6 unfortunately its catchup for the components/modules etc. Im sure VM will get there.

I use click dart pro ecommerce software. I tried VM, it didn't work and seemed full of bugs. Believe me, before I spent $200 on ecommerce software I tried everything.

It's very early to use 1.6 now. currently there's not much component, module, plugins that are available to use in 1.6 like for e-commerce. Why not use magento instead. :)
