Does anyone that has an ecommerce site use a mas email campaign, and how much has it workied for them? I am looking into starting one for our site, but not sure if it is worth the money. Does anyone really sign up for the mailing lists on ecommerce site? Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks

Ofcourse it's worth it. Collecting leads and turning them into repeat visitors is what increases the your opportunity for sales.

Using a third party service like www.aweber.com allows you to request lead information, create pre-set automated emails, follow up with mass emails to all subscribers, and much more.

To get your potentials to sign up, you could consider offering a weekly update newsletter where you offer, weekly updates, special offers, cut prices, etc. You can also as your list of subscribers grow, sell ad space in
    that email at a price.

    Thanks John,
I have thousands of customers emails that have purchased from us, but have not signed up for any subscription. Would a place like aweber.com be able to use those exisiting emails?

I have done it for an e-commerce site. I would suggest going for it. But don't spend too much effort on it. You have to put some kind of promotional discount to make it work better.
