The problem with informational or howto ebooks is that there's is little or no quality control. The information can be wrong or poorly presented. Many ebooks were simply slapped together by someone hoping to make a quick buck. I'm not saying there isn't any good ebooks out there. It's just hard to find them, and you can't trust any reviews, because of all the affiliate programs. People will jump on a forum like this one and declare ebooks to be the greatest ever; simply because they are trying to sell their own ebooks.
