Ebooks for Affiliates Idea; Please Comment!

    Hi everyone,
After exploring affiliate programs for a few weeks, it seems to me the biggest challenge with this kind of marketing is finding good suppliers. Physical products have a low payout. Digital products are better, but most of them are low quality and those that are good are sold by so many affiliates that they quickly lose value.

It struck me last night that my friends and I might be able to do something solve this problem. We would love to know your opinion on it; is this something you would be interested in? :

The idea is to create a business that will provide original, high-quality ebooks for sale by a select group of affiliates. The ebooks would feature specific, in-the-trenches style advice from real experts on niche topics distributed with a good payout share.

For an affiliate, here is what this program would do for you:

    1. You get a high payout. Like most digital products, our ebooks can provide a generous revenue share for affiliates.

    2. You get a unique product. Unlike most ebooks, these will feature original content from real experts. Nothing recycled from the web. People will have to buy from you if they want the information.

    3. Your products will retain their value. Since we restrict the distribution to a select group of affiliates, you can be sure the ebooks will retain their value long enough to justify any investment you make into marketing the ebook. We can avoid over-saturating the market.

    4. You will have a regular supply of new quality products. We will produce new ebooks on a regular basis that you can sell to your mailing list again and again. As your customers come to trust our ebook brand name, it will get even easier to sell them. (Obviously, not every ebook will apply to your list, but several will.)

    5. Your supplier will not compete with you. Affiliates would be OUR customers, so we will make it our business to help you sell more of our ebooks. That means when we put out new products, we will work with you to sell them instead of using our customer list to go around you.

What do you think? If we did something like this, do you think it would work? As an affiliate is this something you would be interested in?

    Thanks for any feedback!

    Cheers,
    -Charles

NIce idea and you should get to work on it.
Keep in mind, there are a lot of other sites that already have this up and running.

Thanks for the response. Can you point me to some of these sites. I've googled for it and looked around on ClickBank, but I haven't seen any 'ebook suppliers' for affiliates or such. Maybe I'm just using the wrong keywords...

I should add, maybe you are thinking of a different kind of site than I am thinking of. Either way, a few links would help me understand what other sites you were referring to...

Sorry, not to be a rapid fire poster. I just looked at some of the affiliate links in your sig. Those would be some good examples. :)

    Thanks for the response!

    Hello.

    Good idea you have there.

But I was wondering how you are going to protect your original, high quality ebooks? As far as I can see, there are many ways other people could copy/sell those ebooks.

To start off, there are those people who are just lying in wait for the next good ebook to come out, so that they can buy, modify/make some minor changes, then re-sell the ebook on their sites with a huge marketing campaign so that by the time you realize what is happening, their ebook looks like the original thing and your own looks like a cheap imitation.

Then there are also those people who will buy an ebook then sell hundreds of copies of it on Ebay for $0.01.

What are your plans to avoid these things from happening? Are you going to take any legal actions to ensure it doesn't happen?

    Just my thoughts...
