How do publishers make it so when somebody buys their ebook, the copy is sent? is it an automated program with clickbank, other, or do they send it out themselves?

With clickbank after the person has made payment they are automatically directed to the download/thank you page where they can access their product that they have paid for.

You have many different ways, but in my opinion theses are the bests:

    1) Create a .htaccess memberzone on your site (dont forget a login link on your LP!). Put the YourBook.pdf file in it and on the Thank you page, put a login and password. when your users buy the book, they are directed to your thank you page. they can then note the login informations and connect to your memberzone to access the .pdf file

    2) put the .pdf file link directly on your thank you page. Not recommended because search engines have more chances to find and index your thank-you page...

    Hope that helps.

in clickbank you automatically link a page to your product. the customer is automatically redirected to the URL you put in the "Thank you page" slot in your clickbank account after he makes a purchase.

the answer to your last question is yes.

Yes it can be passed around so you are better off looking for some type of script that will disable itself after product has been downloaded.

I use DLguard and it's pretty much bullet proof, even if someone finds your download page they won't be able to download anything without reciept numbers and email, although it does cost a little bit but you can install it on one domain and use that domain as a hub for all your product downloads so they are all protected.

Another cheaper option is easyClickGuard which is a really good product, it contains a number of safeguards including Geo IP tracking so you can see if your product has been passed around from people in other countries to one another and a host of other features, it's around $67 but it's well worth the price.
