My ebook has now had more than 20,000 downloads (that I can track). There is some evidence that it was passed on virally, but I can't measure this. I did this through a combination of press releases, banners on my site, articles extracted from it placed in publications, and writing good content. I think it's also worth investing in a professional looking cover and make the layout good - this adds weight. I also deliberately did not force a registration since I wanted it to spread and registration is a big barrier, so it depends a bit on your goals as to why you've written an ebook. There are also sites that publish ebooks, and you can upload onto these for free, but you can't track the numbers. So back to your goal. Why did you write it?
