Ebook Content

    Dear all,

I plan to write ebooks soon, on various matters that interest me. My main question is the matter of plagiarism, et al.

I plan to do some research and obviously will be referencing content from websites, books, et al.

Question, how do I proceed in quoting the sources ? Do I need to get permission from the content owners ? Or just attributing it would be fine ?

How does it differ between a free ebook and a paid ebook ?

    Appreciate all feedback and suggestions.

    Thanks.

    Dear Omecool,

I don't think you need any permission of the authors to quote their content.

Adequate citations and a list of references (up-to-date links) at the end of your book are obligatory, however.

Just follow the same procedure as if you were writing a printed book.;)

    Have a nice day!:)

No, you don't need to get permission to use someone as a source with a small enough quote that would constitute fair use. But yes, you must cite the source, and you can't republish a significant portion of it. If you're using a book as a source (or e-book), you can't simply include a full list of tips they included, b/c that's a selling point of their book, and you're hurting their sales/distribution potential. Quoting one or two sentences is generally fine as long as you fully cite your source.
