O' wise members of the forum, when selecting a niche is it better to select a niche with low cost items or a big ticket niche? A big ticket niche logically seems to draw people just kicking tires and probably not going to buy. You then hope you get something off the 7 day cookie. With a small ticket item, it would seem you might actually sell these plus have the 7 day cookie. What are the thoughts of the forum?
Ideally you'd find an uptapped niche of high dollar items, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. That seven day cookie is a big deal if you are getting clicks from people that are already ebay shoppers...
I don't think it really matters. With big ticket items, as you said - you'll get the tire kicker clickers. Hopefully these people (or somebody else who uses the same computer) will be eBay buyers and buy something within 7 days. But then with smaller 'more buyable' items, new eBayers might be tempted to sign up. Which means you get the new registration bonus. You also need to consider who you're up against in the search engines. If your niche is 'cars' or 'iPods' etc, then forget it. But if your niche is 'Vintage 1962 XL Type B Widgets', then you're more likely to get results from SEO, and you'll be getting highly targeted traffic.
There is indeed money at both ends. ACRUs are big business as well and nice bonuses. You might sell an item and get a $.10 commission, but that $25.00 ACRU makes it worth it. Then again we have several niche markets that bring in anywhere from $70-$300 commissions on a daily basis. It works as well. Just depends on how you plan to market these things.
You wanna be a Big fish in a Little pond or a Little Fish in a Big Pond. I stick with the mid-higher paying products in my sites. The tighter the niche the better the results.
