Ebay Pricing Information Copyrighted?

    i wonder if copyright infringement is involved if i make a website to disclose the auction price of certain items on ebay, e.g.

    -- cheapest 5 ipods sold on ebay yesterday;
    -- cars old for above $20K recently on ebay...

    how do you think?

    if you are taking ebays information with out their permission then yes this may be ground for copyright infringement...

    yet if you take ebay information and re word it then you may be ok...

    but if its like a straight out copy and paste job your gone...

    You might have a look at ebay's terms of use
    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/user-agreement.html

    These parts appear to apply:

    hmmm, very tricky business... no wonder ppl have to log in if they want to search for completed transactions...

    seems the price info is protected by their terms?

    That's how I would interpret it. I guess you could write to Ebay and ask permission.

    Unfortunately true. :(

    If you want to go ahead with it without asking Ebay, you could consult an attorney. But that would cost $$$$.
