a small clarification required from you guys...

i have an ebay listing and i want to advertise the same thru. google adwords. supposing if for that keyword someone has not taken the (ebay.com) destination url, can i use it as the display url and then give my ebay listing url as the destination url?

to put it simply, if someone searches for keyword, and i have put up an ebay listing and and when someone clicks on my adwords ad, they will be directly sent to my ebay listing. is this ok?

i cud not find anything related to this in the adwords help section.

    regards,

This should be fine. If not then google will let you know and remove the advert I would think.

hes not asking about affiliate marketing. You will be able to do that with no problems, as long as the ebay url isnt already taken like you have stated. (which seems to be rare considering every search thesedays brings up an ebay adwords ad)

    Marketing/promoting eBay is affiliate marketing.

    Adwords affiliate policy

What that means is they will pick one eBay ad (based on the display url) to be displayed as the result of a query - and it's not the same one every time.

thank u guys for ur kind response...

i dont know how promoting my ebay listing (without my aff. id ofcourse) will amount to affiliate marketing. i will not be getting any commission from ebay on the bids or sales made apart from the sale price that i have quoted in the listing.

yes ofcourse, i read their affiliate policy and i understand that theywill accept only one top domain name for display url. all i wanted to clarify is, whether i can put my ebay listing url as the destination url for adwords. :)

i didn't know that it will not be the same ad every time. thanx for this info. can you pls. explain how the ads with same display url are being selected for display?

thanx again guys for your feedback.

I don't know for sure how they rotate the, in this case, eBay display url ads. I just know they had to it because the affiliate ads were taking over all the ad space before they put in place.

If you want max ad exposure set up a landing page that talks about and links to your listing...then you won't have the use eBay as the display url and won't get lumped into that affiliate pool.
