I've been considering setting up a UK based ebay store selling products for people with dogs. I've done a fair amount of research into wholesale goods and I've worked out roughly what I'd spend on postage and business costs. The problem is that ebay appears to be full of people all doing exactly the same thing and selling the same products that I've been researching for very little profit. Does anybody run a successful ebay store? Is it really worth it or is ebay now so saturated with cheap goods that it's outlived it's usefulness for the small trader?
Hi! I think you are corerct about ebay. I had not been on there for years..because of the horrible feedback system..and some very bad auctions. I think there are too many cons on ebay..I really do. Ebay knows, too..and yet...they do little. Always have. "We're just a venue" is total crap. Somewhere along the line a facilitator site like that has to stand up and take responsibility for their actions. I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon. They have been spending millions on google advertising..they used to come up on any search you did..which is just plain sad. The only reason for my visit last night was because I had read in a article that they now sold training/mentoring there now. It's true. I didn't even bother looking at one auction, though. Your best bet online is to do it on your own. Advertise. Setup a decent site. Build a customer base. Etc..etc. Ebay? They're not in my plan. Bryon
