EBay getting too competitive?

Is it just me, or in 2007 has it got a lot harder to make money on ebay?

Started doing drop-shipping but not really generating money the same as last year.

    Anyone got any useful tips?

Is it maybe about suppliers or just too many big experienced sellers cornering their markets?

The prices often are so low on ebay, it is hard to compete.

    Should I give up?

ebay is a lot of money..if you do the right business...i havent done whole sale selling..but you have to be knowledagble about the stuff you are selling about..

thats the most important things..a lot of times many stuff go cheap...because you dont do proper description..

Try selling on a place like DP aswell - drum up support in the buy/sell section?

    Just a suggestion ;)

though more and more people give a hand into xbay transactions
    but mostly are new hand,
they need some time period to learn the tips of buying & selling stuff.
my friends and i still got little profit only on some IT stuff.
just provide good quality or after sale service seem most important.
    that is all

also another thing forgot to add before..choose your category of business carefully..

like some items sell more than others..so getting yourself into the proper area of demand is also important..

There are a lot more sellers on ebay than there were a few years ago. The key to selling on ebay is research. See what is selling now, search completed auctions and check pricing. There are several niches on ebay so just check around.

I quit trying to sell on Ebay. I tried selling a eBook once and they suspended my account for 'unethical practices'.

My sister does quite good off of Ebay. I would tell you her secrets, but it would be more competition for her. ;)

I recently bought an ebook off an ebay auction for $0.99 only to find that they are not selling the book... just an affiliate link with a discount coupon for the book which is $30 or something. Anyone know if that is even allowed? I guess they are doing it to build a good feedback rating fast and get a list of leads.

Ebay has been competitive for a long time now. The biggest problem I see is the sell through rate. Stuff that would have sold routinely 3 - 5 years ago doesn't get a bid now. It appears to me that unless you are selling very high demand items you might as well not list. Ebay sure isn't what it used to be.

Ebay to me seems to be a bit better than last yr in terms of making money.
i started there last yr selling designs for 7 bux. then moving up the price little by little. people wanted a custom design. good quality for a cheap price.

selling the product in a personal manner is what causes alot of ppl to purchase something from a ebay seller.

Interesting thread. Apart from the selling fees there is lots of other ways to make money on Ebay. I have to say though you need to find the most profitable products that sell well on Ebay.
