Ebay Feedback Trouble

Discussion in 'eBay' started by mycompanyname, Jun 6, 2010.

I have been using eBay for some time, and can not figure out why the Feedback only goes one way now. Sellers can not leave negative feedback for the buyers, while buyers are free to leave any feedback they would like. This leaves the sellers open for corrupt bids etc without any recourse. How does this work, why did the change it?

It's been like that for a long time actually. eBay has brought out one way after another to screw over auction sellers in the name of "consumer confidence." All they've really succeeded in doing is making it very hard for small operators to survive on income made on eBay -- and in my opinion, that was the goal all along.

That's right. Their goal is to squeeze out small sellers who can't cover the costs of scam buyers in favor of large commodity sellers who factor in the costs of returns and scams to their business model. eBay is trying to be more like Amazon but they are really just becoming a big fail.

That's why sellers can't be too cautious about selling on eBay nowadays.

Ebay isn't the greatest, in my experience. It is not fair how one person bids and buys and doesn't think paying $3 when shipping is $2.55, not including the $1.09 envelope, is reasonable and then gives bad 1 or 2 star feedback. People are cheap and why would someone bid if they think the price is too high anyways? It is as if they purposely want to shut down sellers from the site. Plus, when you get 2 one or two DSR you get restricted account status so you're out of luck for a little while if someone gives the same low star rating for two or more items.

well said stacy, ebay are doing everything they can to eliminate honest sellers, I know of one NARU'd seller who got convicted for fraud and then 12 mths later is back on ebay shilling her computer prices up and still ebay allows her to trade

Ebay believes that if a buyer payed and purchased for the auction then only positive feedback should be left. If you sold something that is not as described then obviously you deserve negative feedback. But yes ebay's new system for feedback favors the buyers more than the seller.

They changed it a long time ago. I agree, it sucks, but ebay wants to be sure the buyers are happy.

No, it doesn't make sense and its not fair at all.
because many buyers change their mind after sale is done and request for partial refund OR to leave you a very bad feedback!
