Hypothetical situation DAY 1 - Somebody clicks on my ebay link and get s 7 day cookie DAY 6 - That person returns to ebay directly and sees AUCTION1 and places a bid DAY 10 - AUCTION1 is in the last day and the person returns to and engages in a bid war and wins. do I get the commission????
Yes... as long as that cookie is still alive, you'll receive whatever the commission is. And I don't know if its 7 days, I thought it was more time then that, it was only 7 days for them to win the bid. Once again, someone correct me if I'm wrong...
^^ Yeah, but thats only to collect the percentage of eBay's fees... it IS 30 days for the user to become active for you to pick up the $25.00
yes, you are correct ACRU cookies are 30 days, I thought the questions was just related to bidding, that cookie is 7 days.
^^ Yeah... well if I remember right, in order to be paid $25.00 the person must sign up and bid on an item, that is a 30 day cookie. In order to receive the 50% split between eBay's fees... that's the 7 day cookie. Anyway, glad we got that knocked out, thanks
So forget about the ACRU for a moment and go back to the original question DAY 1 - Click thorough with 7 day cookie DAY 6 - User places a bid (never comes back to my site) DAY 10 - Without ever coming back to my site, user is out bid and bids again and wins. the question is - does the cookie track to an auction that the user bid on past the 7 days - if they placed that bid within the 7 day cookie?
It's very difficult to get facts about this sort of hypotherical scenario, however I believe that to get a commission the cookie needs to be active when the winning bid is placed, so the answer would be no.
So it is not a matter of getting a winning bid within 7 days (that could finalize in 3 more days plus the original 7), it is getting someone to bid and win the auction in 7 days?
Yes... either that or a BIN will work (you'll get 50% of eBay's revenue with a BIN.) If you get a 50% profit, consider yourself lucky. I did, somebody paid $18.95 for a auction listing. Fortunately, I got $9.00 of that
so then it is in our great advantage to promote BIN over bid auctions because then we know we are getting the $$$
^^ Yes, assuming they purchase within' that 7 day cookie. But yeah, if someone goes to eBay and uses the BIN then you'll get paid.
That means, you should not promote products, which have auction time remaining > 7 days ? - Because, according to eBay's policy, we'll never get any commission at all, unless, the buyer decides to BIN.
That is a very good point and makes perfect sense. I might want to rethink how I do my eBay ads now...
If the user places a winning bid within 7 days of clicking your link, you will get commission from the transaction no matter how long the auction lasts if they win the auction. They just have to making a winning bid, they dont have to win the auction within 7 days.
