Hello, I tried using the search function but didn't find anything on this. Basically what I am wondering about is if it is possible to make a ebay popup on your site, so that you get your cookie on every visitor you have, whether they click on ebay link or not. Sorry for my bad english lol...i know its very rusty at the moment!
This'll get you in trouble.. or at least lose your ebay affiliate. That is called 'forced click' and is against TOS. hanji
You should do a search on eBay and cookie stuffing, for educational purposes of course. On another forum (something with blackhat) some kids have tried all possible ways and got banned one by one, never saw a penny of their "earnings". . This kind of stuff has been tried by many over the last 4 years. Did you just get connected? The only option still open is to ; 1. Buy Google 2. Insert your PID in all ebay search results. I have found a way to take care of 2. , just looking for someone to take care of step 1. Sorry for my english too
So, creating a file on your site product123.gif, set apache to handle php as gif for a certain directory, and set the cookie, redirect to an image [in another dir] wouldnt work? Then you can point your product to this "image" on your site, the browser sees it just fine and sets the cookie. I could code this
trouble is ebay will see a 100% ctr and wonder why your page is so kickass, chase it up and then wipe you off the face of the affiliate scheme - its not that hard to get people to click stuff just by making it appealing - not much to gain from being bh in this situation
This has been talked about and tried numerous times and it will result in one thing and one thing only. Being banned. Let me just say this, the Black Hat method of Affiliate Marketing takes the same effect as White Hat so do it right the first time.
Truth is, the best way to make some money with ebay besides actually selling stuff is through the affiliate program and building niche stores (BANS)
That's fraud and will get you banned in short order. eBay (although they have moved) has excellent security and since this is stealing commissions from cookies placed by their other affiliates with actual content, you'll get banned. If you could just "place" a eBay cookie on the computer of any user... any high traffic site would do this and eBay profits for legitimate affiliates would decline substantially as pop up sites take away cookie standing.
So how would this work? If one site places an eBay cookie on the browser, and the user visits another site and that site also places an eBay cookie, would the second site be the one to get the credit?
^^^ I think you are right. I think that no matter what it is the most recent site that gets credit. In that case, that would be site number 2. So, in theory this technique should not even work. But still, a bad idea as it will lead to banishment.
Interesting...if this is the case there are so many frickin ways to drop ebay cookies without the user even knowing it. Too bad its too risky......or is it...?
