Maybe someone here has the answer. When you log in to CJ.com, why is an ebay cookie set upon login. I used to think that this was because ebay was a big affiliate of theirs & this might be a loss prevention sort of thing… but what is their affiliation now? Why does this happen? Does ebay own a part of CJ now? If not, does ebay pay $ to CJ for having this cookie access? Seems pretty fishy to me!
I just tried logging in & no eBay cookie was set for me. Are you sure an ebay cookie is being set? Can you give more details (cookie name, value, domain, etc...)? Make sure you clear your cookies before doing this.
interesting, is this a cookie that could be used by cj.com to earn commissions? I tested this myself, and sure enough the an ebay cookie is set. cookie name is npii
ok, I clear all cookies... I go to CJ.com... no ebay cookie... login to cj.com... cookies are: Cookiewner@cj.com/ Cookiewner@ebay.com/ Cookiewner@apmebf.com/ ------ it's always been this way for me. but now that ebay & cj have split, I don't know why this still happens? I'm using internet explorer & it happens in Netscape... I assume will happen with other browsers as well.
Hmmm... seeing it now. Most likely, eBay was using that pixel to negate sales made by affiliates on their own computers (by tracking all affiliates' IP addresses). My guess is that CJ forgot that it was there & never removed it. No big deal.
