The policy takes effect on March 31st. So anyone caught selling (or buying I have heard) after that date will get their account suspended. I don't know how quickly eBay could police this change. I've read in another forum though that they have changed the options you are able to use when listing an auction. So there is no longer an option for free shipping/digital download on new auctions that are being listed. I guess auctions that are still running beyond the 31st could be selling digital downloads - but it wouldn't be worth the risk in my opinion.

Also, this only affects eBay.com. I've heard the UK and Australian eBays are still allowing digital downloads.

Yes you are right about that Will. Buyers contact you and outside of eBay you make arrangements for payment and delivery. I think it would be a good way to get opt-ins to your mailing list and then you have long-term customers that you can sell to over and over if you treat them right.

They definitely shouldn't have banned ebooks. They're just as legitimate as anything else being sold on eBay.

But it makes the market a level playing field again :D

I think its going to be difficult for many people who do this as a full time job.

It just applies to ebay.com. You can still sell ebooks as usual on ebay UK and ebay Australia.

I've not sold on either UK or AU ebay sites, but what I've heard from marketers who do sell ebooks on ebay UK is that the market is not as good as ebay.com's market was. I still think you can make some money, but it's very hard to become a powerseller by selling ebooks there.
