Hey guys, I have a great idea for a website which I'm still planning out on paper but I need to think over the marketing technique before I start doing anything. I think this is why most of my websites fail. Well I was wondering how did Ebaumsworld and Youtube and sites like that became so famous? SEO? Person to Person? Unique idea? Thanks
Since they are so famous, you must realize that it wasn't just simple factor, like the ones you mentioned, but a quantum of factors. And yeah, considerable amounts of money pushed in.
One of the things that made youtube great, it was one of the first video hosting sites. Youtube allows just about anything to be uploaded. Members can join the youtube partner program and make money by uploading videos. Youtube videos can be embedded into forums, blogs, and all types of websites. And that is my opinion as to why youtube has grown to the size that it has.
^ Good point about Youtube being the first site to host videos. I think that if you have a really good concept with low competition, you can easily earn from your site. That's how Youtube and Ebaumsworld when they started. There weren't a lot of video sites yet when they started. Word of mouth also helps a site so you should start creating buzz about your site.
