Eating out in New York City

    I need advice, guys.

I'm heading to New York on 17th Feb for the second time in a few months, but I don't feel as if I made the most of the many restaurants, diners and random hot dog stands during my last visit.

So, what I need is a little advice on the best places to eat out in Manhattan. I'm not looking for the cheapest restaurants, but since I'm going with a male friend I'm not exactly looking for candles, a massive wine list and chamber music.

For preference I'm looking for pizza, steaks and other tasty, meaty stuff. So, good food and a real 'New York' atmosphere - i.e. I want to know I'm eating in New York rather than just any random eatery anywhere in the world. Any tips?

Update: I'd welcome any tips on restaurants in the boroughs, too, as long as they're worth the trip out of Manhattan. Cheers :)

    Try Chanterelles in Tribecca.

Wow, the menu looks fantastic. I love snapper :)

However, it seems more like the kind of place I'd take a date - I ain't spending $95 on dinner unless there's a chance of getting some action after dessert. Since I'd be dining with a 17-stone ginger haired guy it'd probably be an unwise use of my money :)

Bro, trust me, it really ain't about that. On top of which, I'd say that at least 50% of the tables are comprised of pretty much four guys with suits since, because of it's well-deserved fame, it is a great business dinner place as well.
