Eating at night is not healthy. Then why during Ramadan Muslims eat only at night?

............Do not eat before going to bed
One of the mistakes that are made when it comes to healthy living is eating at night. ...............http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/186584/healthy_living_tips_brushing_your_teeth.html

I am sure there is much more info on the subject if you dig enough.

But I am curious why is it that during Ramadan eating during the day is not OK, but at night OK, the stomack is supposed to rest at night isn't it?
BTW people who eat at night gain more fat.

actually we eat at dinner time, the same time as most of people have dinner.
in indonesia around 6:00 PM til 06:30 PM we can start eating.

or maybe to talk about 'sahur' where we eat at around 3:00 AM til 4:00 AM?
After that, we usually doesn't go to bed and start our daily activity.
Don't worry, we still brush our teeth. :D
we usually lose weight in ramadan, but gain weight after it :D

If muslim ate during the day then it wouldn't be ramadan anymore you see.
Muslim during Ramadan abstain from eating ,drinking and having sexual relationship during the day. It needs a lot of willpower.

I think it takes more willpower to abstain at night, especially if your girl is as hot as mine.

If it is scientifically proven eating at night is not healthy and it is hurting your body what's the point? To manifest willpower?
There are better methods for cleansing the body than this. You could just go for example on water only for 3 days (provided you are in good health).

I don't understand why a practice put in place from a false prophet is followed either...

With as much rice and natural foods as they eat in a lot of the middle eastern countries... I would imagine if they ate at night for their entire life they would still be more healthy than us Americans. Don't get me wrong, my family has been to India and Israel... Indian food is terrible and you better like your fruit if you go to Israel. :p

Probably their food is better, but Americans have some positive habits that middle eastern people don't have yet.

Americans generally have better hygiene than the people in Middle East. Americans wash their hands before they eat. Americans use clean forks, spoons etc. when they eat. Most Americans don't eat with fingers, and if they eat with them they are washed. Which translates to better health.

Basically that article tells you that eating at night is bad because most people forget to brush their teeth. So then brush your teeth before going to bed, problem solved!

Yeah, that article was not written specifically for night time eating. Sometimes you don't get everything in one place.

Here is some more info on night time eating.

............The stomach was designed to be used 2-3 times a day and then rest all night, along with all the other digestive organs. We need to eat a hearty breakfast, followed by a moderate lunch 5 to 6 hours later. At night eat a very light meal or nothing at all so that the body can repair itself while we sleep instead of having to digest food. We should stop eating 5 hrs. before going to bed............. (some suggest we should stop eating at least 1-3 hours before going to bed)...
    http://www.pathwaytoeden.org/page3.html

............. Eating big meals late at night or before going to bed is not a good practice. Digestion during sleep is not efficient because the metabolic rate is falling. Sleep can be disturbed, and often one feels the effects the next morning. ......................http://www.projectrestore.com/library/health/diet.htm

..........People who like to nosh right up until bed time often find getting a good night sleep impossible. With the body working so hard to digest and issues such as reflux and heartburn possible, this just doesn't make good sense. Try to stop eating at least an hour to two before bedtime to help with getting a good night sleep....................

Man, I honestly can not keep from eating right before I go to bed. I have to have a full stomach or it is hard for me to get to sleep. I don't know why, I'm sure it is just a mental thing.

As far as hygiene, I'm not real sure. Naturally our food and whole country is cleaner when in comparison to most. That primarily has to do with money though. This is why we end up getting sick if we drink water or eat at the "mom and pop" places in other countries.

However, other countries are considerably more healthy when it comes to exercise and diet. So it all just about evens out. ;)

Eating at night is not always bad for you. There are plenty of articles that state the exact oppossite of what you say.

Most bodybuilders, especially the hardcore ones who win titles get up every few hours to eat. Your body does slow down, it however does not stop. If you workout protein in the middle of the night can be essential to getting the fullest from your workouts.

In any event it's a religious thing, modern day science has no bearing on it nor should it.

Even your own quotes say 'big meals'
A light snack before bed can be beneficial...

    http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/articles/110.html

Yet most nutritionalists, doctors, etc recommend eating somewhere in the area of 5-6 light meals not 2-3 big meals.

    http://nutrition.dadeschools.net/ask/default.asp?Answer=9

    http://www.utexas.edu/student/cmhc/booklets/sleep/sleep.html

There are literally tons of articles and studies showing eating light meals can help you sleep... So many in fact that I'd be here all day trying to list just a fraction of them.

What you are saying is absolutely true especially with a hot man like me, that’s for sure would require more willpower to abstain. That is the very reason why god changed his mind about the rules of fasting.

In the beginning, Muslim men were not allowed to have any sex with their wives during the fast be it day or night. But being Arabs and hot like me, they could not resist that ruling especially at night, so they were cheating and had sex with their wives. When god was made aware of that fact, he changed the regulations and allowed men to enjoy the night. Angel Gabriel brought down a verse from the heavens, that made sex ok in the evening, Allah was most forgiving.

That’s true (according to the biographers of the prophet), I’m not making this up.

If Mohammed was a false prophet, then so was Jesus. They were both Schizophrenic suffering from some kind of mental disorder for sure.

BS! You've no idea how clean the Muslims are, the fact is that they are almost obsessed with cleanliness and personal hygiene.

This explains why I'm a lean mean, fat fighting machine. I eat 5 times a day - some cookies in the morning, a bag of tootsie rolls for lunch, a bag of cheetohs later on, a shake for dinner, and some doritos right before bed. I'm puttin' my body to work!

LOL. I know that Middle Eastern people have to wash their hands before they eat (or should do so). They are required to eat with hands and they must be washed. Arabs are very clean liviing people and wash their bodies before their 5 prayers a day.

You should eat at night. Its healthy. It should be a pretty light meal.

Also, its getting so out of hand that people are now even criticising the way and what Muslims eat.

    Really?

I see some everyday (I know about 9 muslims). I spoke out of experience. I
saw them not once or twice how they eat. Some of them store food in the restroom of their store. As a matter of fact the restroom is used as kitchen as well. They cook their food in the restroom when they don't buy one.

You know 9 individuals, I know millions, I live with them. In terms of personal hygiene, Muslims are very clean. They've no choice but to be clean:

    If they pray then they must wash various parts of their body at least 5 times a day;
    if they shit, they must clean their arse with water;
    If they pee they should do the same as no drop of urine should be left behind;
if they've sex they must wash straight away the full body as they feel impure/unclean with their sperm out.
    etc...

Of course, poverty could affect the way they look, and the lack of accessibility to water can cause many problems. That's not to say that there are some individuals who don't care about personal hygiene , but that's not the rule it’s the exception.

Not washing hands before meal is unheard of. Actually I've seen many westerners hardly wash their hands before eating in places like KFC, Pizza hut, McDonalds, Nandos etc.... None Muslims use their hands too when they eat there right?
