I notice a PR3 that looks like it's showing PR4 in the directory now.

me too - and you're right, it looks like the directory hasn't cached the data from dmoz yet.

It did at a specific point in time - probably on July 01 or 02.

I'm not sure whether all the directory pages have been updated though. It's actually easy to check - see the bottom of any page if it displays 2007 Google copywrite notice. So far the directory has been the most accurate measure of pagerank

    You're welcome :D
It's good to have your site in Dmoz just for Google. The link in itself is just another link but...you'll get an insight into your pr because of it.

    It's a scale of 8.
Here is what seems to be a fairly a current article:
    http://www.seocompany.ca/pagerank/pr/toolbar-directory-page-rank.php
    and some older ones...
    2004
    2002

Nothing has changed, the image is still 2 pieces, pos.gif and neg.gif,
the only exception seems to be the listing for Google:

    http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Google/
    http://gfe-mu.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Google/
The 44 pixel pos.gif they talk about in the articles above is gone in the new version...

You can also use sites like http://www.checkmypagerank.us to check your Google PageRank. Several good ones are available if you just do a Google search for 'pagerank checker'.

Well, somebody took time to write "this deep analysis", but frankly I see what I see. When I look at the toolbar my pr is 7 (at least it looks that way, but fortunately says so too) and when I look in the directory my pr is still 7 (at least it looks that way). They can use images consisting of 25 pieces for all I care. The fact of the matter is that having two different scales for the same website is redundant and a complete waste of time.
According to that SEO article, Yahoo, which is listed in the Google directory and clearly showing pr10 bar, is in fact pr8 - this is funny stuff :D

Is Google directory always updated before toolbar PR export?

My site (http://www.kung-fu.co.il) has PR0 according to Google Directory:

    http://www.google.com/Top/Sports/Martial_Arts/Kung_Fu/Mantis/Southern_Praying_Mantis/

But according to this it has PR3:

    http://www.digpagerank.com/index.php?url=www.kung-fu.co.il&dc=18

Is this going to be a problem in the future update? Will Google punish me?

I frankly don't know what to think about it. I noticed that with several sites. I looked at your site and you seem to have a lot of duplicate content. I think it would be irresponsible of me to say that you're heading for troubles, though part of me wants to definitely say that. Google is cracking down on a lot of sites that they consider duplicate and therefore redundant. let's see what will happen after the update

Noticed my site appeared in the google directory after being in DMOZ for over a year. Now google seems to have reverted to its old directory contents and my site has disappeared.

    Anyone else notice this?
