Hey all, I got started with affiliate marketing last month. I just graduated from high school and would be going to college during the fall. I am looking to make a little extra cash with affiliate marketing to help pay some bills and other expenses during college since I really don't want to tack on a lot in student loans. Anyway, my question is which pay per lead offers do you experts find to be better. The low paying but very easy convert offers like those email submits or the higher paying ones but with harder conversions where a purchase and credit information is required? I put together a website, with some help from my brother and one of his friends, that was focused those email submit campaigns. Its been up for a month, although I didn't do any promotion on it until after the first week. Got about 700 unique visitors or so and I made about 28 conversions on those email submits for about $30 comission. I also got about $8 from adsense. I spent most of the time touching up and optimizing this website the last few weeks. However, I also threw up another website really quick along the way which focused on those higher paying offers where they have to purchase something to convert. The website was up and running after spending many hours completing it in just 2 days. Its been up about a week and a half, and I only got about 175 unique visitors so far. However it did manage to convert about 3 leads which generated $72 in comission. Also got about $4 from adsense. At first, I figured I may be approaching this the wrong way and should of focused more on the higher paying leads rather then the low paying easy to convert ones. Then I thought the 3 higher paying leads may be a fluke or luck and I may end up with nothing more for a while. So my question is what do you experts think is better or should I try to target all types of different pay per lead offers?
I think I found my answer. Got another lead today on the site with the harder to convert offers. This one paid $35. So I made about $112 in a week and a half with only 200 unique visitors so far. That compared to about $43 on other site which has been up a month and with over 800 unique visitors. It looks like the niche is just better. It also looks like i'll be in the black after the first month since I made enough to cover the one year of hosting cost I paid out and the 2 years registration for 2 domain names.
