Easy Blog Design (uncoded). $65 per chosen submission

Discussion in 'Design Contests' started by Digital Noise, Aug 14, 2008.

I am looking for designs that follow the below wire frame outline. I am willing to pay $65 for multiple submissions (probably 5 to 10 designs). However, I won't choose the submissions until I close the contest.

Any stock images you use in your design I am willing to pay for at the end of the contest. Also, the images in the design need to focus around healthy happy people and the logo needs to be an abstract icon that could be used for anything. The gray sides of the design can (and it is encouraged) be redesigned, however, your redesign cannot contain any form of words in it.

I will not take any PM-ed designs or questions. This way I don't have to repeat myself and the general contest can benefit from your designs and questions. This contest has a time frame of 7 days but I may extend it longer until I have found all the submissions I want.

Best of luck, and thank you in advance for your great talent.

@raja: The design needs to be generic because the theme will be used for several different niches.

@YesMoreTraffic: This design is good and on the right track. There are a few things you need to change. First, I don't want anything in the header except the generic logo graphic (diamond), I would remove all text. Second, the contextual body is too large (555px) and the sidebar too small (255px). I would make the body 400px and the side bar 300px. Currently you have the width of the theme a little over 800px, and I would cut off a 100 pixels. Also, if you could put in the footer that I have in the example that would be great. With those changes you will be on track for a winning submission. Thanks.

@Untitled: This theme is too dark. If you follow a similiar color scheme that "YesMoreTraffic" uses and also the suggestions I gave him/her it will help. Also, the side bar needs to be more square and bigger. Hope this helps.

@Outrage: Way, way, way too blue!!!

@Outrage: This definitely is better, but the design is still too dark. Implement more white into the design. I would recommend implementing some of the advice I gave to "YesMoreTraffic" at the beginning of the contest.

    @YesMoreTraffic:
Yeah, this looks really good. The final recommendation I would make is to find an istock photo (you can have the istock watermark on it), and put it in place of the large blue swirl graphic. Other than that your design looks good.

@YesMoreTraffic: The picture is fine. Everything looks great. No changes needed. I will put you into the final category for consideration, which right now you are the only one :).

Absolutely! There is no limit to submissions you can create. Particularly, if you have already created one that I like.

HI, slightly confused about how closely we need to stick to that template, how much leaway do we have when say adding a bigger navigation bar or header, so basicly how much can we move it about horizontally and vertically. Thanks, i will enter this. e.g make the header and the navigation sections taller

This is a little different but figured you might need a variety. This is at 75% of original. The container box is 725 px wide, the text box is 400 px wide, the form boxes are 300 px wide and the footer boxes are 230 px wide each.

@Ace2016: Thanks for the question. You actually have a lot of leeway with the header and navigation. Feel free to make it your own. It's really the body, footer, and width of the overall design that I am a stickler about. Hope that helps.

@YesMoreTraffic: Not really a fan of the black header and footer. Overall, I would stay away from black in your designs. Also, the header needs to be contained. However, I do like the colorful navigation, and the picture is really good.

@Skullborg: I like the overall concept, except the blue is too strong, and the width of the design (not including the background) is about 100px to short. I show it is under 600px and I would try to make it closer to 700px.

@jwilkins: You are okay being different, but there are some things I do recommend. First, your header needs to be void of text and it should only have one image (the generic logo graphic). Second I am trying to avoid the popular blog look of having every section seperated with a border. I would rather have the image bleed into the text box and the form boxes bleed into the image and text box. Let me if that doesn't make sense.
