There are significant differences between designers that you hire from Eastern countries (India, Pakistan, etc.) vs Western countries. I noticed that I need to provide designers I hire from Eastern countries examples of websites I like otherwise the design doesn't catch my eye. Anyone else deal with this?
You are right mate, but most of the time, I got stunned when I saw websites from Eastern country/Pakistan and they were just like; WOW. I think it depends mostly on individuals' approach; sometimes new comers can provide you a shockingly professional quality with international looks and sometimes an experienced designer might disappoint you with your design. So, whenever I am about to design for my country (as I am a Pakistani), I ask them whether they need traditional/local design or global design for their website.
I suppose designers in the West tend to be more educated and well-versed in aspects of web design. Most of them are also more qualified, having gone through an entire phase of design training and classroom education whereas designers in the East are more often than not self taught youngsters with little or no education in their field of practice.
Well, I would not completely agree with @travelguides. I would somehow agree with the part of education and classroom training sessions but not with the other part. Education and proper trainings does have impact on individuals' skills and expertise but when we talk about majority, the thing which counts more are individuals' personal approach and interest. You see, training and education thing only works if an individual has any interest to learn about that particular field; let's say web design. But if he is not interested to learn; than no bachelors degree of professional trainings can make him learn about that field. I have seen websites from eastern country (just tomorrow) where I found them more less quality than of Eastern countries. So, it's not always about the region, it's about where we can get what we are looking for. Bottom Line: We can expect professional and non-professional work from anywhere, it's just about what our requirements are; and what is our approach towards fulfilling our requirements.
