get the most hardcore, loyal people in that niche to use your product without paying them. Once you pay them, you look illegitimate. You shouldn't even need to ask them to blog or anything... just to use the product. enthusiasts will brag about awesome stuff on their own.

Try facebook ads, bing ads or Google adwords, also, affiliate marketing like Commission Junction or build your own affiliate management tool is the most common way to market online.

Listing your service to free classified ads like Cragslist and directory is also the way of doing promotion.

Try also social media marketing like twitter and facebook page.

Social media marketing. It can get you far with small budget and can connect you to your customers. Try Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. See if you can find additional social networks which suit your business. The thing is - almost every business has it's own social network or forum. Try to find yours :) The main hing though is to be creative - shoot a video for YouTube, for example. See how it goes. Good luck! :)

I think Facebook ads are perfect for this. You can get really targeted, and they are very affordable.

I have to admit to being a bit stale in that my information is a couple of years old, but back then, the conventional wisdom was that FB ads were not worth the money. They did not produce. Marketers began saying that people go to FB to play, not to buy something. Has this changed? Do you have examples of successful products/services sold through FB?

I think that the product/service needs to be more than "pretty good" to create a viral buzz by itself these days. For B2B plays, it is even harder to do. I would love to create a viral buzz for cabling products sold to network managers at large corporations in North America. I haver tried linkedin IT forums with no success, at all. FB would likely be just as bad.
