In India, we have numerous "earth hours" every month..... "Power cut" is a routine here. We need no "earth hour" to remind us the importance of energy conservation.....
What a load of baloney - a completely empty gesture - As to why we don't do this permanently - it saves no energy; modern displays use the same amount of power regardless of what they display. I don't drive a car, I haven't been on a plane in years, but I've got one of the richest and most energy consuming companies nagging me to turn my lights off for an hour? When's stop nagging me hour?
Kind of silly, IMO. Leaving everything as is and changing the logo as they usually do when a holiday or important event comes up would have the same effect. I'll make sure that I run my dishwasher and washing machine precisely at 8 p.m.! ;-)
Most of the time spent surfing online is on the results pages, not on the actual search page. The results are still white so the gesture falls pretty short.

Well, I am going to do it, it's just 48 minutes away for me... All lights will be switched off, hopefully.. If the other people in my family don't mind ... I'll just be playing on my PSP and listening to my iPod during that 1 hour Yawn......
