Earnings from Link Unit

Hi,
I am using link units on my blogs but the ctr and the earnings are very low.Many times I observed earnings from the click is $0.01 or 0.02. What is your experience? I am going to remove the link unit so visitors get other option from text ads.What is your opinion?

I have no idea to give you opinion about this work...

 

It depends on your blog niche. If they are low paying keywords than you won't get much when someone clicks.

 

I would say I have the same experience. For one, users need to click twice on link units for you to earn anything. My ads usually have a good CPC - an average of 60/70 cents per click. I removed link units a while ago but decided to try them out one more time. The other day I had a click that was worth 7 cents, far below my usual text ads. I heard some people getting good results with link ads but I don't think I can make them work

 

I have them on longer pages on my main site, which isn't much of the site so only about 150k impressions.

They make me about $30 a month, compared to $60 for a large rectangle on the same pages, so percentage wise I think that is not bad at all. However, I get a LOT more clicks on the link units to get that $30.

 

You shall remove them and monitor the result
if you get better result after remove them, then just stick on the image/text link

 

Thank you very much members for the replies.I am getting good earning(avg.$0.50 to $1.00 or more) for text or image ads for the same niche and from the same article so I think there is no issue of niche or keyword.Possibally advertiser bidding low for Link Unit Ads.Afterall it is my thinking.I am intersted to know what you think? I have removed some link unit from one blog and testing.I will be back with the result within few days.

I don't use them because if somebody clicks one it takes them to a Google search results looking page and they have to click something again. I don't use link units on any of my sites. I had them on there for years and never made jack with them so I took the ugly things off my sites.

 

I think if visitor have no option of link unit then they will click on text unit and you will earn more from the same visitors.Will anyone agree with me?

 

I added them as an extra and I got extra money, I didn't lose anything from the other ads. At least I think I didn't, the other ads on that site have been really going up lately so it is hard to tell.

 

I pesonally dont like to use them.

It's not the link units, it's you placement and how you present them.

I use link units on the bottom of all my page "after user scroll to the bottom not clicking on an ad"

but i enclose the link units in a section:


"Niche Name" Related Pages
------------------------------------
"Page"
Link Unit Keyword Keyword Keyword
-------------------------------------


I find that this placement works great.

Now link units don't pay a lot, but some money from below the fold click are better then none.

But never put link unit before other ads, and never make link units look like site Navi.
