LOL. "Picking" on you? Not in the slightest. You made some really lame comments and I simply offered you the God's honest truth. And if you think I care what "a few seo chicks" think of me, then you obviously don't know my reputation on DP. :D

Google never releases how many percent of income is our share, so how do we know if they aren't just reducing our share?

    Facts:
    1. I would cut the advertiser's share if I was Google and I could.
    2. Google is smarter than I am.
    3. There is no shortage of advertisers.

Deduction: Google is cutting our share. :D

Dont really care about your rep here. I suppose I just misunderstood you making too many assumptions about my situation or where my comments were coming from. Of course, Id be a dick too if someone didnt agree with me. :p

At any rate, we can still be friends.

If google can make more money legally by doing this, THEN WHY NOT RIGHT. They are here for money and more money.

Dude Google are not ripping you off, all they are doing is adjusting the amount you earn because the people you are sending to the advertiser's sites aren't converting into sales, leads or registrations.

So basically what Google does is if the advertiser's Return on the Investment isn't justified by the price the advertiser is paying for the clicks then Google essentially gives the clicks to advertisers for a more appropriate rate, thus it is called "smart" pricing.

Why do they do this? Because if advertisers make no Return on Investment then they leave the Google AdWords network and there is less money for both Google and us as publishers to make.

So what's the solution? Provide quality leads for Google advertisers. How do you do this? You write good quality content that puts the user in a position where they are looking for more information or are ready to take more action (ie buy or sign up to a service or something) so when they click on the Google ads they get to the site and are actually going "oh sweet this was what I was looking for, a widgets seller".

Then the advertisers get a good ROI and they think hey this Google AdWords thing is paying off, I'm going to hang around and invest more money and bid on more terms. This then makes Google go "sweet I definitely won't smart price this site because it is actually keeping the advertiser happy".

This isn't true, Google can't determine if a click from your site coverts as it is only CPC not CPA.

I was about to say the same thing. A lot of AdWords publishers (of which I am one) use Google Analytics to track visitors progression through a site and you can set ultimate goal in Analytics for things you want your users to click and do as well as what sort of bounce rates the visitors you are send are producing - so Google CAN tell how your clicks perform.

Google is the new God of this world - if you sin (send spammy clicks) all the time it will strike you down with its bad karma (smart pricing)! Fear God's wrath!

Smart pricing is killing me, I have gone from 65k a month down to 10k, profit in the past 12 months.
Traffic has increased and sales thru the cj.com sponsors I use have increased as well, which seems to point that the " quality " of my traffic is up too. In fact its gotten to the stage that I'm pulling AdSense as I'm making more per sale.

Wow, that sort of smart pricing would HURT. How many impressions a month were you showing for 65K? Becuase that sounds like a lot and I wouldn't be certain but I'm sure that if you could get in contact with Google they may be able to discuss some things with you because they wouldn't want to lose you to another network like YPN (even though your from Australia) or pull your ads for CJ.

    Diversify!

Check out some CPM type advertisers like Casale to make use of your pageviews.

Since smartpricing has hit me I've diversified in a number of ways.

    Adbrite (Content Network Switched Off)
    Textlinkads
    Azoogleads
    Passion & AFF
    Clickbank

There is light at the end of the tunnel, Adsense isn't the be all & end all of advertising. Don't be lazy ;)
