earning less with more traffic

Okay. The past few months I've been making about .15/click on one of my sites. However, I've received a good deal more traffic (like 5-10x as much/day) - and now that I've received more traffic, I'm making about .05/click.

Is there anything I'm doing that would cause this drop in my earnings/click? Anything I can do to bring it back up?

It's a stretch, but maybe Google only has a small inventory of high value ads, which were getting the bulk of your impressions when you had lower traffic, and now with more traffic they are delivering a few lower valued ads to fill the rest of the inventory.

Just a completely untested and unfounded guess though

With the way the economy is, who the hell knows these days. I say you wait it out a week and see what happens. Things are up in the air right now. More scammers, less advertisers, less CPC... it's going to be an interesting year.

This is common for many of my sites, in fact traffic goes up at pretty much exactly the same rate as adsense revenue goes down. A site with 10k visitors per day today is making the same money as it did back when it had 2k visitors per day, even less many days. Really quite frustrating...

Indeed, it is quite frustrating. I have an eCPM of .12 for that site. :(

It may just be a temporary down. Wait a bit. Or else the value for that niche might have gone down :(

I have horrible luck with adsense.
I don't get a ton of traffic but I would still like to get some clicks.
I haven't had a single click this week.

you are not the only one, many ppl found that out the hard way and wish their site never grow ...

that is why some of us believe adsense's numbers are controlled and whatever you see is just made up to meet the target number everyday.
