one way to drive traffic to your site is by submitting your sites to directory. Check this site out search google for articletrader... it should be the one with .com... sorry could not post the link I just signed up today. They offer DirectoryTracking for your websites. I was able to list one of my sites to about 50 directories in a very short period of time.

Build your content and backlinks steadily and maybe 6 months from now or next year if you have done things right you will see traffic. Once you have the traffic, then optimize your site for adsense. You need to have patience and be ready to do the work without reward for months before you start to see the fruits of your labor. I would not plant a seed in my backyard tomorrow and expect to harvest the fruit next weekend.
