There's an exciting new affiliate opportunity for Kiwi and Aussie webmasters. Duty Free Stores New Zealand is an established duty free and tax free operator in New Zealand, providing duty free services for all New Zealand international airports (This is the company I work for :) ). The affiliate programme offers webmasters to earn commission on all referred sales.

More details of the affiliate programme can be found on the website:
Duty Free Stores New Zealand - Affiliate Programme

Please note that cheques will only be sent to New Zealand or Australian addresses, and will be in Kiwi or Aussie dollars. Please feel free to register your interest on the website OR email service@dutyfreestores.co.nz.
    Thanks!

Quick question; are they offering "duty free"?

They offer duty free goods to travellers travelling internationally in and out of New Zealand. Travellers can purchase goods online and then collect them at any New Zealand international airport on departure on or arrival.

These pre-orders can also be made in-store, but the affiliate programme is obviously only for webmasters who link to the duty free website and these customers then go on to purchase goods through the website.

Each time the duty free website receives a referral, a cookie is placed on the user's computer that contains the referral's URL. This is held on the user's computer for a period of 6 months and the affiliate receives commission for any orders received during this period from that user. Unless the user clicks through to the duty free site from another referral during this period, in which case the new referral's information replaces the old info and the new referral gets credits for any sales received from then onwards (for the next six months).

I hope this is clearer now. Please have a look at the terms and conditions on the website, as everything's explained quite nicely there. :) Any other questions, please feel free to ask us. Cheers!

The response to our company's affiliate programme has been a little disappointing I must say. We have only received two new affiliates (not sure whether they were through this forum though).

I thought we had more webmasters at DigitalPoint who would join up and trial this new opportunity. :D

I am keen, just haven't had time to think it through yet but I will be in touch.

Do you only opperate out if New Zealand airports or do you have shops in Australian airports as well.

Hmmm.....I just had a look through your terms and conditions......perhaps the reason is the low % that you offer.

    >>> you will earn 6% of "Revenue"
then this.....You will earn 2% of Revenue for products under the "Cameras" or "Electronics" categories :( .

I would like to hear a comment from Shawn in regard to this. Just to see if he would be interested if was on this side of the planet, lol.

The affiliate programme is for our New Zealand website, which caters to travellers travelling through New Zealand airports. We do have stores at Gold Coast (Coolangatta airport) but we haven't organised any affiliate programme for our Aussie operation as yet.

But, the affiliate programme for our New Zealand site is open to Aussie webmasters as well as NZ webmasters. The reason we have done this is that a lot of our overseas business comes from Australian travellers and most Aussie travellers (living on the east coast) travel frequently to New Zealand cities due to the cheap airfares.

Thanks for the feedback Cyclops. Although the commission seems low @ 6%, there are a couple of things to consider. There is no cap on the commission, whereas some other sites offering affiliate programmes usually cap their referral fee. So, a $500 order for alcohol can earn you $30 and a $2,000 camera sale can earn you $40 commision.

Secondly, the commission rate is a flat rate and there is no minimum sale amount. Most other affiliate programmes that seem to offer a higher commission rate, usually don't offer a flat rate. To get the highest commission rate, you usually have to sell hundreds of items.

Moreover, you earn commission for six months from the first time a user clicks through to our site from yours. So, if you refer even one frequent flyer who flies through New Zealand every fortnight (and they do exist), you could earn commission on 12 of this user's orders!

Finally, most other online retailers suffer from intense competition. Ex: If you tie up with an online book retailer (Say), your customers will have the option of buying books from that retailer as well as dozens of other online and offline retailers. Whereas, we are the only duty free operator operating in Wellington, Hamilton, Dunedin and Queenstown airports. Moreover, we are the only operator in New Zealand allowing customers to pre-order duty free for collection at any New Zealand international airport. Most of our rivals limit their operations to one or two airports at the most. Hope this helps!

I just saw another post in this forum, offering quite a high percentage to affiliates and I thought I might clarify something. The commission that we offer if on the revenue, i.e: the sale amount and not on the profit which is why it might seem lower than other programmes. Ex: If we were making a 10% overall profit, we could be offering 60% commission off our profits!! Hope this helps.
