Ned, I'm good dude, get me some money, I want to start a shopping portal, I have the name registered already! www.SearchShopUSA.com PM me for my PayPal email dude!
I meant interent reatil. Not any reatil. See the main problem with interent retail space and shipping. You have to actually ship the stuff and that adds to cost.
Um...Amazon took 8 years to get into the black. Um hum...Ebay doesnt do etail. It is a middle man whihc is why its business model has worked so well.
Most companies charge extra for shipping. How much have you shopped online? I am amazed when I see someone ordering a dollar item and paying five dollars in shipping costs. Especially when they live in town with a retail outlet for the store with which they are shopping. (Now with gas prices may not be as rediculous.) Shannon
Well then I guess it's time for you to go get a job at McD's or something. You're doomed, man...good luck! And if it makes you feel better to believe that everyone sucks and everyone is a failure...then so be it.
But, the benefit is that without having to have a retail location, you can cut a huge amount of overhead cost, both in retail space and in employees. Also, many businesses accept the fact that they cant make huge markups so they focus on quantity. True that etailing can be difficult, but with an appropriate business plan / model, it can be extremely successful.
For smaller novelty goods that are hard to find etial can be effective. But for common items the business model doesnt work since most peopel can go drive out and buy the stuff and save shipping costs.
Many people buy online for the convenience. A lot of people will pay the extra for not having to go to a busy store. This is especially true during the holidays.
They say the diffenrence between a man and boy is price of the toys. I have observed grown men thinking nothing of ordering four billet aluminum vlave stems and paying shipping. If they want it they will buy. The problem is finding the right nitch. Shannon

Amazon didn't bring in a profit in the beginning because they didn't want to. They poured all that money back into infrastructure. Profits = taxes. Just go get your phd
