Hi, Can anyone offer any good advice on epassporte. Somebody recommended it as the best way to go for me to collect and send payment in terms of link trading on the internet between webmasters, however I am reading some horrific stories out there on the web. Does anybody have any real 'non-glorified' stories, or are the horror tales I read true? Thank you in advance.
Well, you cannot receive funds via epassporte unless the other party has a epassporte account. So if your customers do not have it, it is pretty much useless for you. I would think that generally speaking, Paypal is probably more popular a payment method and if you see the web masters here, they will generately assume you be paying in that. Of course, credit card is the best means of payment available now. All you need is to get a payment processor and you are set. I do have an epassporte card and I use it mainly for ATM withdrawal. I got it because it was offered to me by Digital River as a payment options for receiving the money I paid by selling my programs through them.
Ah, now that is interesting. Would one be able to use something like Google checkout as a payment processor and sell something like Product A, Product B, Product C...even if these are not tangible goods? Such as links and ad space do you know? Would most people agree then that Paypal is the general standard for sending and receiving money? I was always put off by the high fees they charge. Thank you for that advice!
As a payment processor, Paypal charges amongst the lowest in the industry. Bulk of the fees goes to the credit card's bank. Generally, Micropayments or payment under $5 can be quite tricky because there is a fixed cost of processing somewhere. Think about it this way, without a 3rd party payment processor, you may not be able to earn those income anyways. Take it as a business expense. If you are worried about the charges then factor it into your cost. I use Regsoft.com from Digital River and I am paying 15% in service charge fees on the average so Paypal 2.9% + $0.30 is really low. You can't really find anywhere as good and as low. Alternatively, check payments are pretty much free for you but they can be quite troublesome for your clients. Use it if you do not want to pay any charges.
Ah yes of course. That does make total sense. With paypal looking like it comes out on top, do you recommend any other payment processors on the market highly at all? Excellent advice.
Paypal is good because it offers both Paypal and Credit Card payments. In the end, it depends on what you are selling. The other alternatives may be 2checkout.com if you are looking for a credit card payment processor. If you are offering software or e-books, kagi.com may not be a bad option.
Initially Im looking to collect payments for selling links and ad space on my site, rather than physical products. Eventually I shall be selling products (digital downloads) however they are of an adult nature.
Great info - and very nice to speak with you. Its my first step into the adult industry, as I believe it can be very profitable, however I am seeing many pitfalls and problems. Who knows I might just sell the site, nice PR5 home page...but Im still going to need a payment processor I guess! LOL
For adult, you may need to get an adult friendly payment processor. Check out Google using 'Adult Payment Processor'. I am sure you find a handful of them listed there. They will be marginally more expensive than the non-adult alternatives but when you are in that industry, you do not really have much choice because of the risk factor involved. Don't try the non-adult processors as if they find out, you will most likely get banned and may lose what you have earned. EPassporte is an option but if your target market is just other adult web masters, it may be possible that they may use that too so using it may not be an issue. But best to check with your potential customers to see how they can pay you and see how you can work that into your plan.
Sounds like very good and sensible advice. Thanks for that. In the mean time, I may stick to Paypal as it appears to be universally accepted and used. The scare stories for Epassporte have definately started to put me off.
I have used epassporte many times i think this is the best services till date i have ever used in terms of money receiving...you can get the cash in your hand from any visa atm..in the next hour from deposit..
