Hi, I installed Joomla 1.5.22 on a godaddy shared hosting server, but e-mails sent by Joomla are received by users usually after 15-20 minutes. Time doesn't improves even if i send mail to only one user. I think the problem lies with hosting because i've used same Joomla version on other servers and mails are received almost instantly. Where do you think the problem lies ? What should i do to fix this issue ?
Are you using the built in email or your own Mail Server ? Try setting up your POP3 access for emails and see if that solves the issue. Jason
Well, Godaddy is the issue. Godaddy are the best for domains, not so good for hosting. Depending how long you paid for your hosting, I'd switch to another host. The longest you should wait is 1-2 minutes depending on how big the list is etc.
Based on previous experiences with Godaddy, I can almost guarantee the problem resides with Godaddy Hosting, they are notorious for overselling thier servers. Not to mention that Joomla can be a resource hog, so I imagine Godaddy is probably not the best platform to be hosting that on. Switching hosts sounds like the best possible solution for you at this point, however if you want to see improvements in load times, stay away from companies claiming to offer unlimited diskspace/bandwidth. Either way, good luck!
GD is using cron job type of system. They will only sent certain amount of email on each time on first come first serve basic.
